The work "Alicante. Santa Barbara Castle" is a canvas measuring 96x130 centimetres on which a panoramic view of the city of Alicante from the port extends. The castle in the background, the intense blue of the sea, the palm trees, the beginning of the city, the bright sky, everything is a festival of clarity and light, of Mediterranean strength and plasticity. Alicante, City of Light, is intensely reflected here by means of broad brushstrokes and rich impastos. The colour, as always in Merello's pictorial work, is intense, bold but restrained, without distortions.
